JOB TITLE: Bookkeeper
LOCATION: Brighton
HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am - 5:30pm
SALARY: £36K - £40K (Dependant on experience)
Job Summary:
As a Bookkeeper at you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers and journals.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits.
- Provide support in preparing tax returns and other financial documents.
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes.
- Respond to inquiries and provide support to management regarding financial data.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
